Inter-learning and Interaction between Backbone Teachers on Teenage AI Education Staged in Chongqing

Sponsored by the Children and Youth Science Center of China Association for Science and Technology (hereafter CYSCC) and undertaken by the Science and Technology Service Center of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology (hereafter CAST), the 2019 Nationwide Inter-learning and Interaction between Backbone Teachers on Teenage AI Education (the second term) has been successfully staged in Chongqing from May 14th to 17th, 2019. Experts in the domain of teenage AI education and 100 backbone teachers on teenage science and technology from 26 provinces, districts and cities nationwide has participated in the training. Liu Huiqiang, Deputy Director of the Children and Youth Science Center of CYSCC, Niu Jie, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Inspector of the CAST, and other comrades from the Children and Youth Science Center of CYSCC attend the opening ceremony as well.

In his report, Niu Jie, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Inspector of the CAST points out that Chongqing as a stronghold well-known for big data and AI industrial innovation, it has always been boasting the earlier intelligent terminal manufacturing industry etc., and a firm ground and great potential for forging ahead with the intelligence-orientated development. Because the teenagers are the very country’s prospect, national hope, and innovation’s future, we hope that through this opportunity of the 2019 Nationwide Inter-learning and Interaction between Backbone Teachers on Teenage AI Education, we can deepen theoretical study, share scientific and educational achievements, exchange experiences, and jointly make progress, so as to serve the needs of the national teenage AI popularization cause and propel it forward to a new level.

In his speech, Liu Huiqiang, Deputy Director of the Children and Youth Science Center of CYSCC points out that the Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the new generation AI development and make a variety of strategic deployments, which offer clear-cut guidance and an unparalleled development opportunity for the teenage AI education. How to timely pace up to the times, realize the AI universal applicability, steam ahead with the innovative development of teenage AI education are the tasks of the times and the duty bound accountabilities we need to face up to. He underlines that we need to put the national strategic deployments into practice through practical action and further organize and launch the teenage AI popularization activities. Firstly, we should establish a new system for the teenage AI education with an eye to the future. Secondly, we need to focus on the brand and forge competitive products for the teenage AI popularization activities. Thirdly, we need to organize a team as the vanguard for the teenage AI education. He encouraged the vast teachers to sharpen their own professional abilities, level up teenagers’ innovative and practical levels, and guide students to create works, exchange experience and share cases via the National Youth Creative Programming and Intelligent Design Competition Online Learning Platform.


Inter-learning and Interaction between Teachers

During this event, specialists on teenage AI education deliver special lectures and give practice guidance surrounding the topics such as teenage AI development and practice, the Python creative programming cases, the popularization and application of intelligent design, etc. Participant teachers have conducted work creation, group performance and on-site simulation competition. The host unit has also organized the experts to discuss the ways for the effective pattern of popularizing the AI activities in the phases of middle and primary schools and the continual development of teenage AI popularization, where all the percipients air their views freely and come up with countermeasures. With a view to broadening the horizon of the scientific teachers from the poverty-stricken areas and ably helping them to guide their local teenagers to participate in the AI learning, the Children and Youth Science Center of CYSCC invites two scientific teachers in need of help from the Cao Yuping Nine-year school in Lin County, Shanxi Province to participate in the 2019 Nationwide Inter-learning and Interaction between Backbone Teachers on Teenage AI Education. With targeted ways, novel form, and rich content, this event works wonders. The participants unanimously point out that they will apply all the knowledge and skills learnt from the inter-learning and interaction between backbone teachers to their educational practices so as to make a due contribution to advance the AI education cause.
